How To Fix Your Brow Problem

We've all been there. The bad brow problem, it's terrifying, it's scary. But I'm here to tell you, that it's not forever.

You can tackle thinning and endangered brows in 3 simple steps:

STEP 1

DO NOT SHAPE

This step is the first on the road of rehabilitation. You must by all means stay the hell away from your brows!!!! I cannot stress this enough, stop trying to be your own spa therapist. The Covid-19 pandemic has granted you the perfect chance to let your brows grow out and repair the damage.

DITCH THE MAKEUP

During this time you have the opportunity to avoid putting makeup on. Yes, that's right, you can go full ogre this lock-down season. And avoiding that home brow tinting kit, also wouldn't be a terrible idea.

STEP 2

TREATMENT

This step, you want to incorporate into your daily routine because it's very important. For your hair to grow, it needs to firstly be stimulated, which means that blood flows to that specific patch of skin, and thus hair growth is promoted. You can do this by massaging your eyebrows gently (it's a lil weird, I know), exfoliating them gently when you exfoliate your face, or combing them. I use an old mascara brush to comb through my brows and it works perfectly.

After you clean off all the old mascara, it looks a little like this. So I use this brush to apply my next treatment practice as well, which is oil. Not just any oil can be used, because the oil doesn't only lock moisture in, but certain oils have vitamins and minerals that make it more effective. Oils that you can use are: Castor oil, coconut oil, olive oil and tissue oil. Petroleum jelly has the same effect.

I advise to use these oils interchangeably. For example, for one week, I'll mix castor and coconut oil and apply it with my old mascara brush every night before bed. The next week, I'll only use olive oil in the same way. The third week I'll use petroleum jelly. Other household products that you can also apply to your brows, once a week are egg yolk, the juice inside of a lemon skin and the juice of a lemon. You shouldn't use these as often as oils because they're a bit more aggressive. And remember to give your brows an break every now and then.

STEP 3

DIET

It seems to be true that you are what you eat, and before I dive into which foods are good for promoting hair growth, you must remember that moderation is always key. Eating all the spinach the shops have to offer a day, will do you more harm than good. So finally, diet is important to maintain overall health and relating to hair, foods containing biotin, a type of B-vitamin, vitamin A, C, D, E, Iron, Zinc and Protein help. Examples of foods like these are; blueberries, almonds, leafy greens, walnuts, mangoes, eggs, cheese, cauliflower, sweet potato, mushrooms and salmon. Of course there are many more, a more inclusive list can be found here.

Lastly, I would like to advise you that, as with anything, patience must be practiced. Getting your brows back to full natural glam can take up to 4 months, depending on how damaged they are. If you pursue the diy route long enough and you don't see results, go see a professional. Please let me know of you have any other tips for brow growth and if you've had personal success with anything I've mentioned.
